Data Engineer (Airline Domain)
Location: Flexible based on candidate profile and project requirements.
1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Platform & Engineering
· Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
· Build and optimize batch and real-time data ingestion frameworks.
· Develop enterprise data lake and data warehouse solutions.
· Ensure high data quality, governance, reliability, and observability.
· Implement data modeling for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
· Optimize performance and cost efficiency of cloud-based data platforms.
Airline Domain Integration
· Integrate data from airline systems such as reservation and booking systems, payment systems, departure control systems, CRM and loyalty platforms, revenue management systems, flight operations systems, and ancillary services.
· Handle high-volume transactional and operational datasets.
· Support near real-time operational reporting and monitoring.
AI & Analytics Enablement
· Prepare clean and reliable datasets for AI/ML initiatives.
· Collaborate with Data Scientists and AI Engineers for feature engineering.
· Enable customer analytics, personalization, demand forecasting, and operational optimization.
Governance & Security
· Implement data governance, lineage, and access controls.
· Ensure compliance with security and privacy standards.
· Monitor and troubleshoot data quality and pipeline issues.
Collaboration
· Work closely with Product Owners, Architects, DevOps, QA, and business teams.
· Participate in solution design, estimation, and technical discussions.
· Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.

2. REQUIREMENTS
Technical Skills
· Strong experience with SQL and data modeling.
· Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java.
· Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, NiFi, or Talend.
· Hands-on experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
· Experience with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, or Synapse.
· Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
· Understanding of data governance and data quality frameworks.
Airline / Domain Experience
· Preferred experience in airline industry, aviation technology, travel platforms, loyalty systems, revenue management, or operational analytics.
· Experience working with systems such as Navitaire, Amadeus, Sabre, or similar airline ecosystems is a strong advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
· 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
· Experience with streaming and real-time architectures.
· Experience supporting AI/ML platforms.
· Knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
· Experience with DataOps or MLOps.
· Experience in customer 360 or personalization platforms.
· Knowledge of airline KPIs such as Load Factor, Yield, Ancillary Revenue, On-Time Performance, and Revenue Leakage.
· Experience handling large-scale transactional systems.
